So I was fortunate enough to close out my Restaurant Week 2008 extravaganza (well, not quite because it just got extended past Labor Day, but that's another story) with a trip to the completely refashioned L'Impero, aka Convivio. To start, Convivio was no L'Impero, but it was pretty tasty. This place is going to be known in the next few weeks for its Southern Italian dishes. I had a great pasta, and the sea bass dish that my friend had was well prepared too, although a bit too small. The zuppa was great, and my insalate was excellent. While the decor in this down-scaled place was a bit funky (and a little sterile in my opinion) I thought that the food was pretty decent and the Italian wine selection excellent. The waiters were a little awkward and some of the service kinks need to be worked out, but that will all come with time.
